Ekadashi starts 11 days after full moon and 11 days after new moon. The lunar calendar is not classical, so it’s hard to determine fasting days for yourself. A special lunar calendar is used for this purpose to determine Ekadashi days.
Bad diet – main problem related to health diseases. When a person starts to improve their diet and to be interested in healthy lifestyle, it’s important to clean the body organism to remove health problems. Only a few people know that digestive system works in two modes: to digest food or to clean digestive tract. If there is undigested food in stomach or intestines, it can’t fully switch to self-cleaning mode. When digestive tract is being cleansed, abstain from food, otherwise process will be stopped. Body is sufficient for cleaning and healing, only one is needed: do not disturb.
To keep digestion clean, Ekadashi fasting is practiced on 11th and 26th lunar days. Such a rest keeps body internal organs in a clean condition. Even by eating right food, internal organs get dirty, not because of food quality but because of overeating eating food at the wrong time. So regular fasting is the foundation of a clean and healthy body.
